I swear if she replaces the Mustang with it, I’m going to be disappointed. I mean, it’s her choice, but that car has been in the family for nearly sixteen years.
Also, what the fuck is a Buick Envision? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of it.

Buick should honestly just accept defeat and go out of business.

I sat in a Cascada recently, and thought it was really nice. However, it isn’t a Mustang.

Why? Their 2015 sales only had a bit of a slump domestically ( about 3% from 2014 ), and they’re doing pretty well in China. So... why go out of business?

The Envision is their brand new small SUV, not on sale yet. About the size of a Ford Escape.

No, Fuck Buick! It can die since 90% of its customers are 80+ and we can have Pontiac back. BRING ON THE HOLDENS!!!

Also, Pontiac died because they weren’t making money either, and if you want a Holden, buy an SS.

The manual Regal GS is the only Buick made in the last 30 years I would ever drive.
Basically, they’ve done nothing that Cadillac did and still are making cars for old people.

And yet, they’re still selling strongly.
Also, your person tastes do not equal the tastes of the masses. There’s a reason why no one caters to enthusiasts.

Sorry, but the overwhelming majority of their models aren’t selling that strongly. I can’t remember the last time I saw somebody say “Hey, I want a Buick!” Unless it was the big silly one that soccer moms like a lot for some reason.

False, Pontiac died because GM was forced to drop it and Saturn because Government motors according to Bob Lutz . They were poised to be all RWD fun cars, but the bail out ruined that. Also I have a GTO, which I would rather have than a SS. Hell I’d buy a G8 GXP before a SS. I just don’t like the looks of the SS, plus Chevy has the Corvette, let Pontiac be the fun cars and get rid of old people cars that “sell” in China. We could just keep them as Opels and Buicks in China and drop them here. I have not sat in one new Buick (I work at a dealer that carries Buick among others) that I enjoyed or thought was worth real $.

It’s a nice interior, and overall it’s a nice car (though, I haven’t driven it). My take is that the Cascada is what the Sebring convertible should have been, which is great if you are looking for that kind of thing.

I’m just going to copy and paste this from GM Authority .
Buick sales were up 45.5 percent to 18,269 units:
The results represent the brand’s best January retail performance since 2003, with retail deliveries up 45 percent. Total sales were the best January since 2004
Combined sales of Buick’s passenger cars were up 73 percent
Buick Cascada sales totaled 88 units; the compact soft-top convertible is now arriving at Buick dealers
Buick Enclave sales were up 5.6 percent to 3,692 units
Buick Encore sales were up 42 percent to 4,920 units for its 25th month of year-over-year growth in both retail and total sales
Buick LaCrosse sales were up 100.5 percent to 4,057 units for its best January total sales since 2010; the all-new, 2017 Buick LaCrosse will launch later this year
Buick Regal sales were up 235 percent to 2,653 units
Buick Verano sales were up 3 percent to 2,859 units
So, they sold 8,000 more cars than Cadillac, and were also ahead of BMW, Chrysler, Lincoln, Acura, Infiniti, and Audi, to name a few . Not exactly insignificant numbers.

Buick is just Opel. If GM sold Opels no one would buy them because most don’t know the company, even though they are driving a rebadged Opel :)

Fair point, my mistake. I made a comment to JKM about Buick sales numbers in the US, and they’re doing pretty solid, apparently.
Having Pontiac back would be rad, but economically, would it make sense?

I sat in that exact seat! The seat pattern is a bit funky, but overall the interior felt quite nice. Not the greatest interior in the world, but it was solidly put together relatively soft-touch where it counts.
The
Opels
Buicks are the GM vehicles I would consider purchasing the most right now.

Well I would want to think so, have good performance brand, but have some cheap and some expensive. Otherwise GM has the Corvette and the SS in the same brand and the SS has terrible media presence. Then the ATS and ATS-V which I have also seen no media presence of other than car shit. GM I think could benefit from a “fun” car brand that also had good media and ads that appeal to younger just getting money to buy a nice car group and the older nostalgic, remember the heyday of muscle cars, group. Hell if they did the adverts for the SS right they would be getting the older dad with kids that still wants to have fun like they did with the G8. Plus, I mean who wouldn’t want a UTE?! I mean a Maloo!! Hell to the yes, I’d sell my soul for one. And all these vehicles still carry STANDARD transmission options.

I’m really curious as to if there would actually be a business case for selling a ute in North America. Unfortunately, with what’s going on with Scion, I don’t think we’ll see GM make a brand that appeals to just younger folks (as much as cheap fun cars sound nice).

I never said just young folks, that would be a terrible idea. Young people rarely have cash on hand, yet alone credit for a real car. The UTE has nothing to compete with, but I feel like they could sell well if marketed well, which is a point where GM would really need to step up HARD!!!! I mean really hard. If they brought back Pontiac, they would need a real ad team, not this crap of resting on their laurels and hoping people buy their products because they had a GM before and their parents had one. Brand loyalty buyers are a dying breed along with “common” courtesy and sense. They would need to get people excited and wanting to buy them. Which also means making a car up to the hype, which I believe Holden and GM are capable of.

My mom got a 2011 Saab 9-3 Convertible and she loves it. She has it in addition to her Suburban, which is leased. It keeps the miles off the Suburban and saves on gas. She drives the convertible until thanksgiving, then takes it back out of the garage in March or April.

I think the Cascada is a great looking car. It's not a sports car, but it's not meant to be. I can't see it as a Mustsng competitor or replacement. More of a modern day cruiser.
